RDX Data Cartridges

RDX Data CartridgesRDX Data Cartridges were designed to protect and preserve data much in the same way as optical media, utilizing a 2 ½ inch mobile disk drive housed in a rugged, shock-proof casing, and offering an archive life of 30 years.

RDX technology capitalizes on the best characteristics of tape, optical, and disk, by providing the same removability, portability, and low cost of tape and optical, and fast data transfer rates, random access file retrieval, and rapid capacity growth of hard disks. Additionally, the shock-proof RDX cartridge can sustain a fall of over 3 feet onto a tiled or concrete floor without being damaged.

By combining the best features of disk, tape, and optical, RDX data cartridges provide enterprise-level data protection at a low cost, to meet business requirements for all backup and data archiving applications.

With respect to performance, RDX media is a disk drive that operates like a tape drive, but sustains up to 45 MB/s data transfer rates, and can backup over 100 GB/hour. Unlike tape technology, RDX media is randomly accessed, so files can be immediately retrieved without time-consuming sequential seeks resulting in restore times of seconds instead of minutes or hours.
