The spotlight is on Data Director from QStar Technologies, providing true high-availability access to your information archives, with full failover and recovery, regardless of the hardware devices and media types to which your data was written.
QStar Data Director provides continuous data mirroring, at a transactional level, from primary storage devices to secondary storage devices that can be geographically located across a campus, across a country, or across an ocean, meeting the requirements for 24 x 7 data availability, as well as meeting regulatory compliance laws that require an identical copy of data at multiple locations.
If a primary storage device becomes unavailable, read and write requests will be immediately redirected to the secondary storage device. When the primary device becomes available again, any new data written to the secondary site is automatically synchronized back to the primary site, ensuring that both devices are returned to a replicated status.
QStar Data Director has the unique ability to not only replicate data from identical devices such as disk-to-disk, optical-to-optical, and tape-to-tape, but also from different technologies such as disk-to-optical and disk-to-tape, including EMC Centera, thereby providing Centera-to-Centera replication, Centera-to-optical replication, and Centera-to-tape replication.
